B&W Companion Hitch Setup for 2016 Silverado 3500 6.5-Foot Bed Without OEM Prep
Question:
I have a 2016 3500 Chevy Silverado with 6.5 bed. No OEM trailer package. Im looking for a slider hitch with under bed mount, as well as giving me room to have a retractable hard Tonneau cover. The local dealer quoted me a model RVK 3405 which I can not find on your site, it points me to RVK 3400 and RVK 3400-5W. So which of these do I want? They read the same. Thank you

The correct under-bed B&W setup for your 2016 Silverado 3500 short bed without OEM prep consists of hitch part # BWRVK3400-5W and under-bed installation rail part # BWGNRK1016-5W which also serves as a gooseneck hitch. The two part numbers you referenced are actually one and the same product, simply coded differently.
For a retractable hard tonneau cover for your truck I especially like the Pace Edwards UltraGroove # 311-KRC95A17 because it has tough laminated aluminum construction (not plastic), a subtle matte finish and a rail expansion system to attach racks for bikes, kayaks, etc. Please look at the linked video to see this cover in detail.
It will be compatible with the installed hitch as long as the height of the hitch keeps the head 2-inches below the bed rails. Of course, with the B&W system you can simply pull the head from the installation base.
