What Is the Outer Diameter of the Hub Pilot on the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum 8-257-5UC3-EZ
Question:
rather than eye-ball it with the ruler, Id rather know exactly what the O.D. of this hub is at the machined surface which mates with the wheel. My digital caliper micrometer isnt large enough to measure it. Perhaps you or Dexter know what it is. The centerbore pilot? of my HiSpecSeries06 alloy wheel is 3.19inch which is much larger than the O.D. of my Dexter 8-257-5 hub. So Im guessing that the exact O.D. of this hub at the mating surface is somewhere between 2.50inch and 3.00. Im considering the idea of having a pair of hub rings custom made for these hubs and wheels to get these lug-centric wheels centered perfectly on this hub. Thank you very much

I think what you are asking for is the outer diameter of the hub pilot on the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # 8-257-5UC3-EZ. If that is the case then this measurement is 2.469" but please keep in mind that as the hub is cast, this could very well vary slightly from unit to unit. I do not believe that Dexter provides this dimension so I went out to our warehouse to measure this for you.
In regards to compatibility, the center bore of your wheels just needs to exceed the hub pilot of the hub if your wheels are lug-centric. If your wheels are hub-centric then these two would indeed need to match or you can obtain a set of hub rings.
