Saddle Style Kayak Carrier that is Easier to Load from Rear than Thule Top Deck

Question:

I have an 80lb fishing SOT kayak and can load up from the side or the rear, but generally the rear as I may be in a parking spot with other cars parked beside mine. In either case, is it possible to slide the kayak relatively easily on these saddles, or will it stick to the rubbery/sticky padding and not move? My fear is that once I slide the kayak up, I wont be able to move it forward or backward sliding into the proper position for tie-down. Thanks

For a rear loading application the better choice for a saddle style kayak carrier similar to the Thule you mentions is the Rhino Rack part # RR571. The rear saddles have felt on them which allows the kayak to easily slide forward into position. The rear saddles of the Sportrack would be more challenging to slide on so it wouldn't be your best choice.
