4.80-12 Trailer Tire and Wheel w/ 4 on 4 Bolt Pattern Recommendation

Question:

I built a tear trailer on a harbor freight 4x8 trailer. It has terrible 2ply tires. They are 4.8x12 4 hole configuration. I would like a good wheel tire combo for higher weight capacity 1500 lbs. It will travel mostly highway so higher speed would be nice . It will be on some crappy roads but no real off roading. Mostly traveling across country to national parks. What do you recommend?

For a high-quality trailer tire that is size 4.80-12 and wheel with a 4 on 4" bolt pattern I strongly recommend the Kenda KR25 ST145R12 Radial Trailer Tire with 12" Aluminum Wheel # AM31208HWT.

This wheel and tire combo is load range D with a capacity of 1,220 lbs when inflated to their max 65 psi. Since you mentioned highway you will definitely want to use radial tires like what are on these because they flex more and are designed to run cooler to avoid blowouts. These are 8-ply tires that are going to be far more durable than your current 2-ply tires; these are also the highest load capacity for a 12 inch wheel like you need.

Can this package come with a higher speed rating tire? Load range D 12 inch tire 4 on 4 pattern. This is for a older pop up camper to replace the steel rims and biased tires.

We only have a couple trailer tires available in that 145/80-12 size, and both - like the combos mentioned above - have a 65 mph speed rating. We don't have a higher speed solution available.
