Can Motorcycle Carrier Be Welded to Frame of 33-Foot Jayco Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2014 jayco jay flight 33ft travel trailer. I have looked underneath it and it has pretty substantial I-beams for the frame, My question is can i weld a motorcycle carrier to the back of it that would carry a 2019 harley davidson street glide or would that be to much?

I-beam trailer frame construction is very robust but I doubt very much that either Jayco or Lippert (who most likely made the I-beam frame) would endorse welding anything to it, especially a carrier for a Harley-Davidson. A steel motorcylce carrier strong enough to handle the Street Glide would weigh a good bit on its own and by the time you load the 830-lb bike you'd be looking at 900 to 1000-lbs. Our hitch-mount motorcycle carriers like # e98873 and # UF48-979033 top out at 500-lbs bike weight so neither is even close to being suitable for a heavy V-Twin.

What you really need is a trailer for the bike that can be towed behind the travel trailer. This requires the travel trailer have a frame and hitch that are rated for towing and that your tow vehicle has the towing capacity for the combined weight of both the travel trailer and the motorcycle trailer.
