Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2005 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
Can this part # RM-521196-5 be installed on a 2005 Tacoma? Also can a 2005 Tacoma 4X4 be flat towed with an RV?

There are base plates that fit your 2005 Toyota Tacoma, though the Roadmaster # RM-521196-5 base plates you referenced are not a fit. In regards to if this truck can be flat towed, I looked in the online version of the owner's manual and was not able to find any reference to if this truck could be flat towed (sometimes called Recreational Towing) so I recommend contacting your local Toyota dealer to find out if this truck can be flat towed.
In regards to each of the other parts you need to flat tow this truck, they are as follows:
- Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 1175-1 (so long as the truck is not an X-Runner model)
- Tow Bar: Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar # RM-504
- Safety Chains: RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643
- Tow Lights: Roadmaster Standard Magnetic Tow Lights # RM-2120
Supplemental Braking System: Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700
You may also need a high-low adapter in order to keep your Tacoma level, and I've added a link to a help article which shows you how to determine if you need an adapter as well as a link to our selection of adapters.
Additionally, I have added links to instruction manuals, video reviews and installations for you to take a look at.
