Are Reducer Bushings Needed To Install the Demco Base Plate Kit on a Demco Commander Tow Bar

Question:

I have a 2019 Chevy Colorado 4x4 that I am setting up to tow behind my 2016 Thor Outlaw 29H. I have Demco. Base plates #DM9519319 and a Demco. Commander Tow Bar #DM9511010. Instructions state that you can replace the end lugs on the tow bar arm with the Base plate tabs for convenience. My question: the Tow bar arm lug is fastened with a 3/8inch bolt/nut. The Tab is drilled to fasten with 1/2inch pin/lynch. Is there any SAFETY CONCERN by using the 3/8inch bolt thru the Arm into the 1/2inch holes in the Tab ? Also, excessive space at coupling point. Should bushing and spacers be required?

Helpful Expert Reply:

In regards to installing the base plate tab from the Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit part # DM9519319 on the end of the Demco Commander Non-Binding Tow Bar part DM9511010, there are 1/2" to 3/8" reducer bushings that will need to be used and these are included for you. I have attached a photo for you that shows the connection as well as the reducer bushings included that will need to be used.
