Cable Lock Recommendation for Thule T2 Bike Rack that Has Locking Arms
Question:
Hi, I own a Thule T2 Classic bought in 2016 wich as a built in lock system to prevent the arm from being moved up and down. Now I am looking for more security since someone tried stealing my bike last week by letting the air out of the tires and lifting the arm with a crow bar. I think a good option for me would be part # 752-1272-001 considering the integrated cable lock. Before ordering, I’d like to know if I need to order a new cylinder lock to enable the cable lock system of if it works with the same lock that prevents the arm from being moved up and down. I see you have already confirmed that part # 752-1272-001 is compatible with my rack, so that shouldn’t be a problem. Thanks

I have a better solution for...since installing the cable lock version of the # 752-1272-001 means removing the current lock setup of the arm; which prevents the arm from being raised in exchange for a cable lock I'd recommend the Thule Cable Lock for Hitch Pins part # TH538XT instead which replaces the hitch pin lock of your bike rack and gives you a cable lock additional to it that you could route through your bike frames for added security.
You can use the included change key of this kit to swap in your current lock core too so that you can use the same key.
