Tail Lights On Dump Trailer Only Work With Bed Down

Question:

Hello, I have a single axle dump trailer that is giving me lighting issues. When the dump/bed is down only two front clearance light operates rear lights do not operate at all. Once the dump/bed is raise off the frame all lights operates as they should. I replaced all lighting wiring and lights themselves, still doing same issue. I used a test light from ground on lower half of frame/trailer and probe top dump/bed of trailer and found light lit up. Seems like trailer is shorted to power some how. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks

It sounds like your tail lights might be located on the bed of the trailer rather than the frame and they are then losing the ground contact when the bed is down. In order to try and resolve this issue I recommend running a ground wire from each tail light up to the main trailer ground. That should fix your issue but if it does not then please just let me know and we can then go from there.
