How To Use the Yakima FullSwing on a 2016 Subaru Legacy

Question:

Will the Yakima FullSwing 4 Bike Rack work on a 2016 Subaru Legacy with a Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Item # 75673? I noticed the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch has 6inch between the pin and the bumper of the legacy. During your review of the Yakima FullSwing 4 on a Kia Sorento, it looks like its a pretty close to the bumper and might be a tight fit to operate the fullswing. I think the legacy has a bigger distance between the hitch and the bumper. Will there be enough room to install and use the FullSwing 4 on the legacy?

I do have options for you but the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75673 will not work with the Yakima FullSwing 4 Bike Rack part # Y02465 because the hitch pin hole of the Draw-Tite hitch when installed on your 2016 Subaru Legacy will be recessed too far under the bumper to allow you to use the release handle on the back of the rack. Therefore, if you wanted to use the Yakima FullSwing your only option would be to install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13390 instead.

If you want to use the Draw-Tite hitch because of the more aesthetically pleasing appearance then the only swing-away bike rack that will work is the RockyMounts SplitRail LS 4 Bike Platform Rack part # RKY11404-4 which is a platform style bike rack. This option will be much easier to use than the above and it is also more accommodating of different types of bikes.
