Is Reprogramming Required for a Brake Controller on a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
Hi, I just installed the tow hitch, and wired it up using the factory 7 way plug mounted to the rear bumper cover. Im shopping currently for the brake controller. Ive heard, and read many different answers. My question, whether OEM, or factory when I install the brake controller, will I need to go to the dealership to have the computer reprogrammed in order for the vehicle to tow?

I have not heard of any reprogramming required to install a brake controller on a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. There was however an issue with the trailer lighting circuits on some vehicles when using the factory tow plug but since you have a factory 7-way there should not be an issue. If you test the pins on the brake controller plug under your dash then that should give you your answer. If the 12 volt power pin has constant power then you most likely won't need to do any reprogramming.
If all of the functions of your 7-way trailer connector are active then I have a brake controller for you in which you would not need to worry about any reprogramming and that is the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180. The Echo does not require any modifications to the tow vehicle, it just plugs into the 7-way and you use your phone to customize settings and activate the manual override.
