Should EZ Lube Spindles Have Grease Installed Through Zerk Fitting

Question:

Hi, I have a follow up question to a previous question concerning the above. I have Lippert E-Z Lube axles on my Jayco travel trailer. Ive watched videos which shows grease being pumped into the grease zerk until the old grease comes out around the zerk and the new grease appears. The service technician who works on the Jayco trailers told me to only put one pump into the grease zerk because I will blow out the seals if I put grease in there until it shows the old grease coming back out around the zerk. I have also heard that same thing on a blog. Im confused due to the conflicting info. Help!! Also, my trailer currently has only 3500 miles on it and the service tech guy said I was probably good for another 3500 miles before I had to put any grease into the bearings. It is a 2018 model and bought it new in March 2018. Thank you.

There are a couple schools of thought on the use of EZ lube spindles for putting grease in hubs. I personally wouldn't pump them full of grease until the old grease pushes out as I'd be afraid to blow out the seals. Since this is a pretty common problem I'd stay cautious and pack them by hand like your tech told you. Maybe when it's all packed and reinstalled you could put one pump or a half pump if you felt like more was needed.

I'd also wait to regrease the hubs like the tech mentioned as well unless you see an issue like the hub starts getting hot.
