Adding 5-Way for Trailer with 4-Way for Adding Reverse Lights

Question:

I have a 7 pin connector on my 2005 chevy silverado truck, but my trailers both have 4 pin standard light kits. I would like to add backup lights to my trailers as I frequently back up in the dark. I am trying to figure out if this kit would add a 5th pin that I could attach to my trailer for lights or am I going to have to rewire my entire trailer for a 5 pin adapter. I already have a 4 and 5 pin adapter that plugs into my 7 pin truck side. I was hoping to find a separate plug for that 5th wire as all of my lights have been already upgraded to LED and work so would like to NOT redo the whole thing if there was a simple solution. Thanks.

Basically you are going to have to remove the 4-way you have and replace it with a 5-way like the part # HM47910. You'll wire this to 4-way wiring color for color and then the 5th pin for reverse lights would need to be ran back to the reverse lights on the trailer. So the new wiring you put on the trailer would not be affected and it would mainly just be you swapping the connectors and running just additional wire.
