Does Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller Work with Dodge Ram TIPM Style Trailer Wiring  

Question:

2006 Dodge Ram 3500. Dreaded tipm looking for work around have seen your answers using tekonsha products. Tipm is working need to protect it. Would this work. I think it mentioned circuit protection in description.

The Curt Echo Mobile brake controller part # C51180 that you referenced is only a brake controller and is not a trailer wiring setup that would allow you to bypass your TIPM. Basically the controller allows the TIPM to power the taillights through it so it really wouldn't gain you anymore protection. It does give you a great brake controller that's super easy to install.

All you will need to bypass the TIPM is the Upgraded Circuit Protected Tail Light Converter Hardwire Kit # 119178KIT along with 4-Pole to 7-Pole Adapter # 37185 if you do not have a brake controller or # ETBC7 if you do have a brake controller. If your plan was to bypass the TIPM and use the Echo though you would need the part # ETBC7L.
