How to Determine if Fifth Wheel Hitch Will Fit Base Rails

Question:

Hello. In your reply to a previous question, you provided a drawing detailing the Curt rails dimensions. Both Reese and Curt claim that their rail will fit most 5th wheel hitches, hence the universal nature of their rails. Please provide a similar drawing for the Reese 58058 so that I can confirm that either product will fit on the same brackets once the brackets brackets are already installed. Thanks.

The photo you are referring to, which I added here, is not specific to Curt base rails - this applies to industry standard base rails such as the Reese Universal Base Rails # RP58058, and there is not a drawing I could locate specifically of these rails.

Base rails are universal for a fifth wheel hitch, but not installation brackets; you would need to use a Reese bracket kit that installs on your year, make and model of truck to use the Reese Base Rails # RP58058. For example, if you wanted to use these base rails on a 1997 Dodge Ram you would need the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit # RP30035.

If you let me know what year, make and model of truck you have I can find the right parts for you.
