Replacement Brake Assemblies and Hubs For Jayco 2007 Feather Sport model 186

Question:

Hi, I have this Jayco 2007 Feather Sport model 186 since 2008, never change any parts of the breaking system. What would you recommend change both complet assembly plus the break drums, or just the assembly. Also, what will fit my Jayco Jayco 2007 Feather Sport model 186 with 13inch tires ? Reading about eTrailer parts look much better as dexter parts. Please let me know the solution with all the parts needed to do a good job. Thank-you for your help Best regards,,

If there are visible signs of wear on the hubs of the Jayco trailer then it is a good idea to replace the hub/drum with the brake assemblies. If the area where the brake magnet touches is damaged or where the bearings ride is damaged you want to change them.

I found the Jayco 2007 Feather Sport model 186 online and it has a 5 bolt pattern so it is most likely the common 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. I assume the axle capacity of the trailer is 3500 lbs based off of the weight of the trailer but you also want to double check this. Usually the axle capacity is printed on the axle with a sticker or stamped into the metal.

I recommend the trailer hub and drum assembly part # AKHD-545-35-K if the bearings match your existing bearings. The hub comes with a # L68149 inner bearing and # L44649 outer bearing which is pretty common but you want to check your existing bearings to make sure they are the same number. If you check them and they are different bearing numbers please let me know.

From my research I found out the Jayco has hydraulic brakes. The brake assemblies I recommend are etrailer.com Hydraulic brake kit part # AKFBBRK-35 with the left and right side. The mounting hardware is part # BRKH10B. The etrailer.com brand brake assemblies are capable of replacing the Dexter parts. Dexter is a very reputable brand but the etrailer.com assemblies are designed with cut-to-length brake pads. The Dexter brand pads are snapped off of a long piece of brake pad material while the etrailer brake pads are cut for cleaner edges and are a bit thicker then Dexter pads..
