Recommended Transmission Cooler for 1 Ton Truck Towing 5th Wheel Trailer in Mountains

Question:

I have a 13000 lb 5th wheel RV. I will be towing in mountains. Will a standard 1-Ton truck do this? What recommendations would you have for this truck?

By standard 1-Ton I assume you are referring to a 3500 model or F-350. You shouldn't have any problem towing that weight in the mountains. It will give your truck a workout, but nothing it can't handle under wise driving conditions. You will want to make sure your trailer brakes, your brake controller, and wiring are all working properly prior to the trip as they will also be strongly utilized in the mountains.

Without knowing which of the trucks you are referring to, I definitely recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class IV - Efficient # D13504. Any of the truck models will benefit from extra cooling when working so hard. If your truck is a GM, then I recommend adapter fitting # D13035 as well.
