Question:
tandem tlr, load weighs 4500lbs. 3700lb brakes single axle. My brakes are down to the drum. L.A. to Lake Havasu. Havasu to Seattle then back to havasu then back to L.A. about 3000 miles. Is this normal?

Trailer brakes can definitely wear faster depending on the style of driving and the terrain, but that sounds like excessive wear. You should get way more than 3,000 miles out of a set of brakes. With your axles you must be using the 4,400 lb assemblies instead of the 3,500 lb assemblies. For the replacements I recommend the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 4.4K # K23-478-479 or the manual assemblies # K23-462-463-00.
If your brake assemblies weren't properly adjusted that would make them wear faster or if they weren't the correct rating for your axle capacity that would be a help in premature wear.
