How Does Brake Controller Wire to 2009 Chevy Silverado

Question:

Hello. I bought a used 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS. It has a hitch and 7 way installed in the bumper so it looks factory. The 7 way is wired and runs up towards the cab of the truck before I lose it. I look under the dash and can’t seem to find any wires to install a brake controller. There is a transmission temp gauge in the digital display so I’m assuming it had a tow package. Any help on where I might locate the wires or what I need to have trailer brakes?

Your 2009 Chevy Silverado is supposed to have 4 blunt cut wires under the dash for you to use to install a brake controller like our very popular P3 part # 90195. Below the steering column, there is a bundle of wires tied together with white tape, located left of the brake pedal. This bundle of wires is the tow package for the brake controller. Carefully cut the white tape binding the wires, and pull the wires down from underneath the steering column.

Connect the four wires on the brake controller adapter to the tow package wires. Follow the table below to connect the tow package wires and adapter wires using butt connectors.

I also attached an install video link that shows a brake controller installed in a 2009 Silverado just like yours.
