Control Panel Wiring for Firestone Dual Electric Air Command Part # F2178
Question:
The instructions say to connect the white wire coming from the compressor the switch panel white wire to a single wire behind the control panel. The remaining white wire is to be the ground. There are actually two sets of each white wires coming from the back of the control panel. Do I combine the grounds and consider that one wire and combine the switch panel wires and consider them as one also?

I combined the diagram from the instructions and an actual photo of the rear of the switch panel, which will hopefully make things a bit clearer for you.
The ground wire from each switch, which would be the wire that connects to the bottom right hand terminal from each switch is combined together and would be grounded. The two wires leading from the other terminals on each switch are combined together and connected to the relay. The illumination for the gauge on the switch panel would also be grounded as shown in the diagram.
