Can A Redarc Battery Charger Be Used In A Boat Engine Compartment
Question:
I came across this unit on your web site while I was actually looking for another part for my trailer. My question is, would the Redarc BCDC1225/40D be acceptable to use in a boat engine compartment? I would like to use it to charge two 100Ah AGM Deep Cycle batteries from the starter battery. The alternator produces 35 AMPs at 14 volts.

I contacted Redarc and the battery charger part # 331-BCDC1225D is suitable for a boat engine compartment. It also works well to replenish larger battery banks such as your 100Ah deep cycle battery.
However, Redarc does suggest you upgrade the alternator to cater to the additional power draw of the marine batteries.
