Trouble Removing Lug Nuts on the Kenda Karrier S-Trail w/ 12" Aluminum Wheel # AM31215

Question:

Will this fit the AM31215? When mounted with lug nots in place there is very little space to fit a lug wrench in the recessed holes to change a tire. I have four or 5 tire wrenches at home and none of them will fit in the holes.

Thank you for the picture!

The problem you are running into has more to do with the lug nuts you are using than the tire wrenches like part # PTW1 that you referenced. Since the Kenda Karrier S-Trail # AM31215 is a little more recessed where the lug nuts sit you need to swap out your shorter lug nuts, like part # CE11051, and replace them with taller lug nuts like part # 12CLN. Changing out the lug nuts to taller ones will allow you to easily fit a lug wrench over the lug nuts so you can remove the tire.

Attached is a photo a customer sent in where they used taller lug nuts and it fixed the problem.

I have a 2004 Patriot 5 x 8 trailer and I need new tires. The original tires are Load Star size 4.80 - 12. What wheel and tire combos are available for this trailer. I use the trailer to pull my golf cart on camping trips. I like the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire w/ 12" Aluminum Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range E will they fit and work on my trailer?

The Kenda ST145/R12 # AM31215 will be about 0.6" larger in height/diameter and 0.8" larger in width compared to your existing 4.80-12 size tires. As long as you have the available clearance for this larger size (unless you're REALLY cutting it close as it is, I don't foresee any issues here) it will work great as a replacement.
