Correct Weight Distribution Hitch for 7600-lb and 10,000-lb Trailers

Question:

I have a 2012 Forest River SS1812 toy hauler that I just purchased and I am looking at getting a weight distribution hitch. The tongue weight of the trailer is 600 lbs, dry weight 5035 lbs and gross @ 7600 lbs. I will be pulling it with a 2500 Dodge 4x4 diesel truck. Will this product Item # FA94-00-1061 work ok for my setup or be too stiff? I will be selling the trailer at the end of the summer and getting something larger and didnt want to buy another hitch at that time. New trailer will be around 10k GVWR.

Since your new 10K GVWR trailer will have an even higher loaded TW than the current one the better WD option is the Equal-I-zer # EQ37140ET since it works for TW from 1000-lbs up to 1400-lbs. It will be usable with your current trailer and also the new one. The loaded tongue weight (TW) of your 7600-lb GVWR Forest River is going to be right around 1000-lbs so the Fastway system # FA94-00-1061 is under-rated. Loaded TW is what matters here.

This WD hitch fits a 2-inch hitch and includes a 2-5/16-inch ball so all you need to add is a thin-wall socket # ALL643216 for installing the hitch ball. Videos for this system are linked to show you the components and the installation.
