Troubleshooting Boat Trailer Brakes Locking Up in Reverse

Question:

I have a 2006 Mastercraft boat 23ft on a mastercraft trailer. Sometimes when I am backing up the brakes lock up and will not go in reverse. It has done this when being towed by my motorhome with a 5 plug adaptor to 7 to match the boat and also done it with my 2012 ford f150 that has the 7 plug that matches the boat. Have been a customer for years but never needed this expert help and am hoping you can give me some pointers BTW we are going to rewire the motorhome to a 7 plug which I bought from you a week ago. I am going to use metal because the plastic breaks to easy.

It sounds like your reverse lockout solenoid is not working properly. You can use the Replacement Solenoid Valve for Titan Brake Actuators with Reverse Lockouts # T4748800 or the slightly better designed Demco # DM5837. You will wire one side of the solenoid to the reverse light function on your 7-way and then the other wire will be grounded to your trailer frame. I've attached a couple videos of installations to assist.

I've attached a photo of the 7-way pin locations to assist.
