Question:

2017 Jetta: Trunk-mount bike rack to carry 3 bikes including kid bike. Hello. I need your help. We have 2017 VW Jetta and want to carry 3 bikes, mens road bike Colnago, womens hybrid road/city Giant Liv Alright 3, and kid 18-inch sized bike. We understand that with our needs, Adapter Bar and/or Hatch Huggers will be needed ?. Can you recommend us a list of bike rack and associated accessories? Thank you so much!

The trunk-mount bike rack I strongly recommend for your 2017 VW Jetta to carry your three bikes is the Yakima FullBack 3-Bike Rack # Y02633 because it uses superior anti-sway cradles and has integrated security features which will keep your premium bikes safe when you are transporting them and if you need to make a quick stop on the way to your biking destination.

The anti-sway cradles on the FullBack are highly cushioned and work together with strong ratcheting straps to secure your bikes at three different points which is going to keep them from making contact with one another or your Jetta. For bikes as nice as yours this is a very important benefit so your bikes stay as nice as the day you bought them.

The security features of the FullBack # Y02633 are another important aspect that will help you protect the investments you made in your bikes and bike rack. Its integrated cable lock secures your bikes to the rack and it has a steel-reinforced strap that stores inside your hatch to keep the rack safely on the back of your car

The accompanying photos are from Yakima and show a FullBack on a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta. You do need to use the upper hooks in anchor mode as per the linked installation instructions, a small step that won't impact the durability of the rack.

In regards to an adapter bar you will need to use Yakima Tube Top Bike Adapter Bar # Y02531 if your bikes have a step-through frame or you want to carry a small children's bike. The bar will give those bikes a horizontal mounting point so they can be carried by the rack.

I have added links to video reviews of the FullBack as well as the adapter bar for you to check out.
