Can a Brake Controller Install in 2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
Question:
We recently purchased our first pop-up camper and need to have electric brake controller installed and wiring for brake lights, etc. Local dealership advises it is not possible to install electric brakes on a hybrid. Is this accurate? Thanks!

It's definitely possible and pretty easy to install a brake controller on your 2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. The easiest way is with a Curt Echo Mobile brake controller part # C51180. All this needs is a 7-way installed with active taillight circuits and a 12 volt accessory circuit active as well. It basically just plugs into a 7-way and once synced to your smart phone will operate the trailer brakes.
You'll need to start with a 4-way part # 118449, which is a custom fit for your Highlander, and then convert it to 7-way with the kit part # ETBC7L and you'd be set. Basically you just need to plug the 4-way into this adapter and then run the wire up to the positive battery post and you're set.
