Can Aries Switchback Headache Rack for 2017 GMC Canyon Support Ladders
Question:
Is the Aries Switchback headache sturdy enough to carry the weight of my extension ladder? Would the Aries AdvantEdge be a better choice to carry the ladders?

I have spoken with Aries before about weight ratings for headache racks and have been told that racks such as the Aries Switchback Headache Rack # AA1110109 that fit your 2017 GMC Canyon do not have specific weight ratings because they were not designed with the intention of supporting cargo like ladders.
For carrying ladders the best option is a ladder rack, the Thule Xsporter Pro # TH500XTB which will fit either the 5 foot or 6 foot bed on your '17 GMC Canyon. The Xsporter Pro has a 450 lb weight rating and includes load stops which slide along the T-slots on the bar to help keep your ladders in place. They even have hand knobs that allow you to adjust the bars up or down to make it easier to load your ladders.
I have added links to a video review of this ladder rack for you to take a look at.
