Will the Kat's Heating Pad Allow Me To Start My Generator in Cold Weather
Question:
I have a 4500 watt generator with a auto choke. The automatic choke wont operate below 40 degrees and there is no outside manual choke. I have to remove the side panel to operate the choke manually. Pain in the you know what lol. Will this work to place in the generator compartment to keep the auto choke above 40 degrees. Thanks

The Kat's Heaters Oil or Transmission Pan Heating Pad part # KH24050 should get you above the threshold for the auto-choke to operate on your generator in colder weather, within reason. We actually sell quite a bit of these for this very same purpose. The other option that people will take is to bypass the auto choke cutoff but this could cause serious damage to your generator so you made the right choice with the Kat's Heaters Oil or Transmission Pan Heating Pad.
In addition to allowing you to run the generator in colder weather, the above heater is also going to help preserve the longevity of your generator because the bearing clearances will be much closer to spec upon startup which reduces wear. The only thing I recommend is that you thoroughly clean the surface that you attach the heater to because if you get any oil on the adhesive surface, you will have issues with adhesion.
