Recommended Cargo Carrier for 2011 GMC Terrain
Question:
Which hitch cargo carrier do you recommend for a 2011 GMC Terrain. I have a 1 1/4 hitch. I was looking at the Surco #52017. i just want to make sure there will be enough clearance from the bumper.

To determine if the Surco 20 by 48 inch Cargo Carrier, part # 52017 will work with your Terrain, you will need to determine the necessary clearance. Measure from the hitch pin hole in your receiver back to the furthest rearward point of the back bumper. This distance will represent the necessary clearance.
The Surco Carrier has a shank that measures 6-1/4 inches from the hitch pin hole to the closest portion of the carrier. I like to subtract an inch for wiggle room. If the measurement you took is less than 5-1/4 inches, then the Surco carrier would work great for you.
If you should find that you need additional clearance, the Pro Series 20 by 48 inch Cargo Carrier, part # 63155 offers 11 inches of clearance, which should provide more than enough clearance between the carrier and the rear bumper. The 63155 is compatible with Class II receivers, check the label on your hitch to make sure it is a Class II.
I would also recommend the Cargo Carrier Light Kit, part # 20174.
