Parts Needed to Install Trailer Brake Controller in 2018 Ford Transit T150

Question:

I have a 2018 Ford Transit E-150 with the heavy duty trailer tow factory installed. I do not have the Ford brake controller. Will Hopkins 47295 Controller with Plug and Hopkins 47855 Connecter plugs at both ends work with my van? I read of problems with some vehicles because of the vans software. So, if I use the 47295 with the 47855 connector plugged to the connection under the cup holder will this work without other issues?

It is possible to install the Hopkins Agility part # HM47295 in your 2018 Ford Transit but you'll have to hardwire it in as there isn't factory brake controller wiring present for your vehicle.

You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # C56327.

From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885 over the Hopkins as it's MUCH more reliable and works better as well. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
