The Thule Gateway Pro 3 Bike Rack, part # TH78VR, will fit your 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser.

You will not want to open the trunk or hatchback with the bike rack installed. Opening the hatch or trunk with bike rack installed could cause damage to the vehicle.

If you are planning on using the bike carrier for childrens or womens bikes, I would recommend a frame adapter like the Thule Bike Adapter, part # TH982XT. This frame adapter spans the distance between the seat post and the handle bar post and provides a level attachment point so that the bike will not be carried at an angle on the rack. To use a bike rack on your vehicle and be able to open your hatchback, you will need to install a hitch like the Draw-Tite Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # 24759, with a hitch bike rack.
