Backup Camera That Does Not Require A Monitor On The Dash
Question:
Id like to use this unit without the monitor and run it to my stereo which has an rca input for backup cameras. I dont care about voiding my warranty. I just need to know if I can cut the plug and splice it into an rca connector to use with my stereo head unit. My main concern is since the monitor is used to change functions, which one would be default if I wil be unable to change it without the monitor. Im looking to add a backup camera to my suburban and use my pioneer stereo as the display. I le the hopkins 50002 with the ease of the 7 way connector but if I cant use my stereo as the display, what would be the next best option?

I have a backup camera option for you but I do not have a backup camera available that that you can splice into the RCA connections of your Pioneer screen. The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera part # HM50002 is designed to only work with it's own display monitor.
If your main concern is not taking up any space on the dash or on top of the dash with a monitor, I recommend Rampage Wireless Backup Camera for Smartphone or Tablet part # RA7710. The Rampage syncs with your Android or IOS smartphone and attaches to the vehicle with felt covered magnets so you can remove it and throw it in the glove box when don't need it. Since you can watch the camera's view from your phone, there's not a need for a monitor in your vehicle all of the time.
