Choosing Receiver Hitch for Use with Swagman XTC 4 Bike Rack Part # S64665

Question:

i am getting a swagman xtc4 for christmas, i need to get a hitch. my question, if i have 4 bikes that are max weight 35 lbs, and the rack weighs 65lbs. Does that mean i can use any, 2 inch class 3, hitch with a max tongue weight of anything over, 35x4=140+65, 205lbs?

As long as the combined weight of the bikes and the rack does not exceed the tongue weight capacity of the hitch OR the vehicle the hitch is installed on, this rack will work great in your Class III receiver. There are some instances where the hitch will be rated for a higher tongue weight capacity than the vehicle itself, so it is important to consult the owners manual for capacities.
