Installing New Triple Tail Light With 4 Functions on Fifth Wheel

Question:

I have a 1989 Alpenlite fifth wheel. The tail lights worked but they were very dim so I bought new tail lights. They are Grote model 51342-5 triple light .The wires coming out of the new lights are: 1. left lens: one red wire and one brown wire 2. center lens with clear back up lens in center: one black wire 3. right lens: one green wire and one brown wire There is also a white wire attached to the body of the light. The wires coming out of the rv are: 2 yellow wires 2 white wires 2 green wires 1 red wire It is a nine round pin connector. How do I hook up the new lights??????

We do not sell Grote lights but I did some research on the Grote model light 51342-5. It looks like your Grote light is a triple light with 4 functions, stop, tail, turn and backup. The two red lights on each side are the stop, tail and turning lights so they wire to the running light and turn signal/brake circuits. The two brown wires likely connect to running light circuit. The red and green wire probably wire to the stop/turn signals. The light in the center with the clear lens and black wire connects to the reverse light circuit. The white wire coming from the body of the light is definitely your ground wire. If you want to know for sure you can ground the light to the negative side of a battery and touch each wire to the positive side and see which function lights up. Please keep in mind, I cannot confirm this because I do not have the color diagram for this particular light.

If you are able to get a color code from Grote, test the wires coming from the RV for the 4 functions using a circuit tester such as part # PTW2992. Hook the trailer to the towed vehicle and have someone sit in the Jeep and run the functions while you test. Then you know which wires from the RV to wire the light's wires to. I have attached a review video of the Bargman Triple Tail light part # 30-84-509 that we sell for your reference.
