There are a few things you can do to test out the OEM brake controller in your 2019 Ram pickup.

First of all most OEM brake controllers are proportional like the Prodigy P3 # 90195. With this being the case it won't apply the brakes on your trailer unless you are either in motion or you use the manual override with the power set the highest it will go.

If that doesn't apply the brakes on your trailer then the next thing to check is the fuse for the brake controller. I wasn't able to find the fuse position for this so you may need to contact your local Ram dealer to see where this fuse is located.

The other possibility is that the wiring on your trailer is messed up. If you can test your trailer brakes with another truck that you know has activated the brakes then you can easily determine which side the problem is on. Let me know what you find and I can help you troubleshoot further.

I've haven't heard of the 19 Ram 3500 not coming equipped with a factory brake controller port. Does the truck have a factory 7-Way connector at the bumper? If so, I wonder if there are blunt cut wires behind the dash for a controller hookup rather than an actual plug. If this is the case then an aftermarket unit like the excellent Prodigy P3 # 90195 could be pretty easily hardwired. Let me know and we'll go from there.
