Will an E-Bike Work with the Hollywood Racks SR2 Spare Tire Bike Carrier

I see it is rated for 2- 35 lb bikes, if there was one heavier bike on the inside would that be ok?

I do have an option for you but the heaviest bike you can use on a spare tire bike rack like the Hollywood Racks SR2 2-Bike Carrier part # HRSR2 is 35 lbs. The reason for this has to do with both the strength of the connection point itself as well as the strength of the arms on a hanging style bike rack.

Therefore, in order to carry an electric bike on your 1999 Jeep TJ you will need to use a platform style hitch mounted bike rack as well as a trailer hitch if you do not already have one. This option may be a bit more than you are looking to spend but it will truly be your best option and it will also be the easiest to load/unload the bike(s).

For a trailer hitch that is a confirmed fit for your TJ, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13430 because it has a sleek look and it does not require any drilling for installing.
