Will Curt Echo Power Brakes Even if the App is Not in Use

Question:

I just got the Curt Echo Brake Controller. Installation and pairing were easy, but Im confused as to the usage while driving. Does the app have to be open while you are driving? Can you leave the app open in the background and use your phone for GPS? Do you have to open the app every time you get in the car to drive? Thanks!

The Curt Echo Wireless Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 will always remember the last brake settings you selected, so even if you were to use another app on your phone the controller will continue to deliver the braking performance you chose the last time you used the Echo's app.

You need to run the Echo's app if you want to make changes to the trailer braking power.

And for safety, please note that the manual override braking feature is accessible only when the app is open.
