Longer Shank for Fastway Weight Distribution System
Question:
I have a 2012 F150 and can’t the tailgate when hooked up to my trailer. Using a fastway e2 10k lb round bar set up. Does the Curt equalizer mount have a longer shank? It’s close, so I only need about 2” to get the tailgate to clear the tongue jack.

Expert Reply:
The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA94-00-1061 you have uses a 12 inch shank.
For a compatible shank which is longer you can use the Curt Weight Distribution Shank # C17122 which is a total of 18 inches long and is 14 inches from the hitch pin hole to the adjustment holes, as you can see in the accompanying diagram.
This shank will give your round bar Fastway system a maximum drop of 7-1/2 inches and maximum rise of 11-3/4 inches.
I have added a link to a video review of this shank for you to take a look at.
