How To Remove Vacuum Lines on SMI Air Force One From Towed Vehicle

Question:

I have an Air Force One AFO108 system and would like to move it to a new towed vehicle. I have viewed several installation videos and understand that you sell a SMI towed vehicle kit 99226 that contains most of the hardware. I am unclear how I would plug or patch the vacuum hose on the original vehicle once I remove the system. Can you help me?

Yes, the Replacement Towed Vehicle Installation Kit part # SM99226 will allow you to transfer the SMI Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motor Homes with Air Brakes part # SM99243 from the 2013 Lincoln MKX to your 2017 Chevrolet Traverse. The air cylinder, air cylinder brackets, and operating unit will need to be transferred from the old vehicle.

In regards to converting the 2013 Lincoln MKX back to stock, you would simply need to replace the t-fitting (if present) that was installed with a union fitting. The correct union fitting to use will depend on which size vacuum lines the vehicle has but you can pick up a pack of various sizes at your local auto parts store for very little. The Replacement Towed Vehicle Installation Kit for SMI Air Force One Supplemental Braking System also comes with a few of these union fittings but you may or may not need them to install the kit on your Chevrolet Traverse.

I have attached a photo of the barbed union fittings for you.
