Solution for Connecting 4-Way on Dodge Journey to 7-Way on Trailer to Power Signal LIghts.

Question:

I have a 2017 dodge journey that has a 4 flat plug on it however the trailer I need to borrow has a 7 round plug on it, is there a adapter or an easy way to hook up the trailer to vehicle? I am going to use the trailer once but need the lights to work. Thank you for your help.

If you only need to power the basic signal lights on the trailer you plan on borrowing (and not power/control electric brakes on the trailer if it is equipped with them) then your best option will be to use the Hopkins 4-Pole to 7-Pole Adapter # 37185. This will plug right into the 4-Way flat plug on your Dodge Journey to provide you with a 7-Way connector at the other end to plug into the trailer.

If you just need the lights to work then the additional blue, black, and purple wires coming from the unit can just be tied off as they won't be needed. The white wire just gets attached to a clean bare metal surface for ground.

I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.
