Should Tires be Filled to 65 psi Rating on Sidewall Instead of 50 from Dealer

Question:

I have 225/75R15 tires on my 5th wheel. The PSI on tire indicates 65. When I picked the trailer up from my dealer, the psi in my tire was 50. Should it be 65 when Im towing with it loaded.

If your 225/75R15 tires, like the Taskmaster # TA24VR, have a 65 psi rating on the sidewall then you definitely need to make sure they are at 65 and not 50 psi. A different psi rating will result in different (typically unknown) load and speed ratings and can result in a blow out due to overheating.

Be sure that your tires are cold when testing the psi in them. Cold just means that they have been sitting for a long time (like overnight) and that there isn't any heat build-up. If you were to test the psi after running the tires then the psi rating would be exaggerated even if you have them at the recommended 65 psi rating.
