Why Can't Pop and Lock Tailgate Lock # PL8675 Be Ran to Trunk Release Circuit
Question:
I have a 2019 Honda Ridgeline with the optional tonneau cover. I have watched the installation of the PopandLock #PL8675 or similar on U-Tube videos. They all make the final wiring connection to the wires in the fuse box near the drivers left foot. Could I instead connect to the locking mechanism used for the trunk lid? I pulled the plastic cover off and can see the pink red? and blue wires connected to the opening mechanism. This is a much shorter routing for the wiring and much more convenient to get to than running it up to the front of the truck. With advanced vehicle electronics, would the additional impulse of the popandlock cause a problem to the whole system?

The trunk lid release mechanism only works one direction. The reason you need to use a power lock and unlock circuit is that you want the tailgate handle to lock and unlock. The trunk lid only has one function which is to unlock. We always recommend going with the manufacturer recommended install instructions.
