Recommended Brake Light Switch and Fuse Bypass for 2014 Chevy Equinox to Flat Tow

Question:

brake light switch or brake light rtelay Hi, my name John I was wondering about these two switches for my 2014 chevy equinox. I already have the brake light switch from you. Will this switch work ok. I have the hopkins custom wiring kit. The equinox is a four cylinder. I have your 9700 brake control. GM says to take out the no. 32 fuse to help save the battery. I checked the brake lights and they do work with the car in the tow mode. What do you think?

Thanks for letting me know you have the Roadmaster Portable Supplemental Braking System # RM-9400 and the necessary Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit - Chevrolet Equinox / GMC Terrain # RM-751439. You will also need the 12 Volt Outlet Kit, 20 amps # RM-9332.

GM does require removing a fuse (#32 on V6 or ABS on 4 cylinder) to help as you stated, but I recommend instead using a fuse bypass switch (# RM-76517 for 4 cylinder or # RM76511 for V6). This will allow you to simply flip a switch each time you flat tow instead of removing a fuse. Since you have the 4 cylinder you will use kit # RM-76517 and not remove any fuses.

I also recommend adding the battery charge line kit # RM-156-25. This will draw 12V power from your motorhome 7-way to give your Equinox battery a maintenance charge to keep it from depleting.
