Will Louvered Tailgate Allow Sliding Hitch to Operate without Pin Box Interference

Question:

I have a 2017 ram 2500,6-4 bed,with b w 18k sliding hitch. I cant slide the hitch back because of the tailgate, it needs to be down to slide. My question is, will the special 5th wheel gate allow the hitch to slide? Thank you,

A louvered tailgate like the Stromberg Carlson # VGD-10-4000, which is confirmed to fit your 2017 Ram 2500, is a great solution that will allow you to slide your hitch back without having to drop the tailgate.

This custom tailgate is specifically designed to eliminate the need to lower the tailgate when hooking up the trailer or in your case when a sliding hitch is moved back so that the pin box is no longer dropped inside the bed. The cutout on the tailgate allows a 5th wheel pin box to sit over the tailgate without having to lower or it or remove it completely.
