No Power on Brake Light Wire for Trailer Brake Controller, 2010 Chevy Silverado with Tow Package  

Question:

I have the controler hooked up but i have no power to the blue and white striped wire when i press the brakes on the truck. Trialer brakes engauge with the manual button. im i missing something? 2010 chevy silverado w/ fractory tow====i checked it with a volt meter and i have no power

Since you are not getting any power on the light blue with white wire that should be the brake light wire on the 2010 Chevy Silverado, this could indicate that the center high mount stop light (CHMSL) fuse or stop light fuse is blown. I would check those first. If that is not the problem, then you will need to test the wires from the factory harness to determine if a different wire caries the brake light signal. Make sure you are attaching it to the brake controller red wire.

If you are unable to find the correct wire in the bundle under the dash, you can probe the wires on the cold side of the brake switch using a circuit tester like # PTW2993. You need the wire that carries a signal when, and only when, the brake pedal is pressed.
