Replacement Leaf Spring Recommendation for Trailer with 3,500 lb Axles and Length 23-1/4
Question:
have a problem bought a trailer that has been sitting for a few years everthing is seized up I have bought all new 3500 lb axles need new springs they are wore out my problem is getting the right eye to eye measurement one spring says 231/2 inches the other says 231/4 inches so do you split the difference and go with 233/8 or what

Helpful Expert Reply:
Springs tend to stretch over time as they wear out and flatten. This means that you need to go with springs that are slightly shorter than what your old springs measure. For that the best option is the 3,500 lb leaf spring part # e59SR which measures 23-1/8 inches. This will work great as a replacement for the spring dimensions you mentioned. Around 1/4 inch shorter than the worn out spring is the best option typically. But that's not a hard and fast rule so for your situation the spring recommended would be close enough and would work well.
