Why Does the Red Wire on the Air Command F3 Need to Be Run to the Battery
Question:
Is it necessary to connect the red lead to the batteries positive terminal and also use the fuse tap connected to the yellow? I plan on connecting the red wire to one of the upfitter switches on my F250 for switcheable power. Not sure if I still would need to connect the fuse tap?

The red 12 volt power wire on the Air Command F3 Compressor System w/ Wireless Remote part # F2581 will indeed need to be attached to the positive terminal on your vehicle's battery. I cannot recommend you use any other location as there is no guarantee it would provide enough power for the unit to operate correctly. In regards to the yellow 12 volt ignition wire, this will tell the system when the vehicle is on so the air compressor can run therefore is also a requirement. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend that you install the kit in a way that is not specified in the instructions. If you do not run the red 12 volt power wire to the battery or hook up the yellow 12 volt ignition wire to a keyed source then you run the risk of the system malfunctioning which would then not be covered under warranty.
I have attached the two sections of the instructions which relate to wiring.
