The 8-248 hub you have is a Dexter 3,500 lb axle hub with a bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2. The Hub is a common Dexter hub and takes bearings part # L68149 for the inner bearing and part # L44649 for the outer bearing. You can replace the hub assembly and bearings with part # 84545BX. I have attached a video for your reference.

The bearings that come with this kit are most likely the bearings that you need for the hub because they are the bearings that normally come with the 8-248 Dexter hub. It is still a good idea to pull the bearings out of the hub you have and check for the bearing numbers on the side to make sure they are L68149 for Inner and L44649 for the outer bearing to ensure they fit your trailer's spindle.

I am not sure what you mean by lip on the spindle. If you can send me a photo of the spindle I can help further.
