Determining if Sunroof Will Open on 2019 Toyota 4Runner with Yakima LoadWarrior Basket Attached

Hi etrailer experts, I have a 2019 4Runner w/sunroof. It was installed with factory side bars and cross bar. After installed the Yakima LoadedWarrior basket 44 x 39 can i still open my sunroof? Many thanks.

That is a great question.

When the Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Cargo Basket # Y07070 is attached the mounting brackets will hang below the factory crossbars on your 4Runner by about an inch. To determine if you will be able to open the sunroof with the basket installed I recommend measuring an inch below your existing crossbars with the sunroof open to see if you contact the glass. If there is still some space available when taking this measurement you can be certain there won't be any interference.

I will say that looking at pictures of your 2019 Toyota 4Runner it appears that the factory crossbars sit pretty low on the vehicle, so there may be an issue if the sunroof pops out too much and isn't one that has more of an internal opening design.

Also keep in mind that even if you are able to physically open the sunroof there will be an awful lot of wind noise when doing so with both the crossbars and basket attached. Most customers choose to leave the sunroof closed with roof rack accessories mounted even when the option is available.
