Recommended Lippert SolidStep for a 2014 Keystone Montana 3402RL
Question:
I have a 2014 Montana 3402 RL that I want to put a solid step on. You have a previous question on fit and compatibility of the Lippert solid step for 29-3/8 frame and 28-1/4 inside lip. That is my situation also. When I chatted with Lippert, the tech said i would need a 791574 which fits 26 inch to 29.5 inches. I asked if the 678027 was too wide and he said yes. You indicate that your contacts at Lippert say the 678027 will work! So, I am confused. Is the 28-1/4 inch inside lip too tight a clearance for the step frame to fold in? You indicate there is an adjustment on the flange, but is the overall unit fold in width the issue? I really want the wider step that the 678027 has so please advise. Here are all my measurements Ground to top of threshold - 42 inches threshold protrudes out from side of trailer about 5/8 threshold is 2 1/4 inch deep threshold is about 1/2 inch high Inside of frame is 29 3/8 inch at the front but the back lip that the door closes against is 28 1/4 inch. The door is a LCI 8070R 30x78.5.

I am not sure who you spoke with at Lippert but what they told you about using the 26" wide SolidStep # LC791574 was incorrect. When I spoke with my contact he said that whether you have the 29-3/8" or 28-1/4" wide frame you want to use the 30" SolidStep # LC791575 that we referenced in a previous answer. Reason being that there is no SolidStep for a 29" wide door frame so you simply round up.
When the SolidStep first came out there was conflicting information regarding fits but I believe they have it all ironed out now. What I imagine happened is that whoever you spoke was still confused on how the fitment works.
You may also be interested in the SolidStep Lift Assist # LC733939 to help make lifting the step easier as it does weigh around 60 lbs.
